Default Thanks at Thanksgiving Time

Here in the USA, next Thursday is Thanksgiving Day. For those not familiar with the holiday, it's based on the Pilgrims (17th century New England settlers) giving thanks for surviving (1/2 died first year) and sharing a meal with the Native American tribe that helped them.

It has become a day for families and friends to gather to share a special meal; some giving thanks for good things that happened in the past year; some just renewing family contacts.
-----------------

I would like to see what the community is thankful for with the Guild Wars game.

1. Thank you for making my first exposure to on-line gaming such an amazing one.

2. Thank you for the most fantastic art and scenery I've ever seen in a game.

3. Thank you for a dynamic game that has retained my interest for 9 months.

4. Thank you for making the game so portable. I can play it anywhere I can find a computer when away from home.

5. Thank you for listening to the GW fans and doing your best to bring about desired changes. This includes a special thanks to Gaile Gray for being ArenaNet's public face and whipping boy (woman?).

I know some people will consider this brown-nosing, but without GW, this forum wouldn't exist either.

I'm happy that:
ANet took the chance at running this kind of business model;
GW has provided me with more hours of entertainment than anything else I have ever paid $50 for;
Heroes in Nightfall have made it possible for me to explore areas and do missions I wasn't able to before.

Thanks for all the creativity and innovation put into this game. After playing so many cookie cutter MMOs, GW is a breath of fresh air. No grind (almost... they just had to put in that Sunspear title :/) needed to play through the game, balanced classes, no ganking or ninjalooting, good community relations, content to appease casual, hardcore and PvPers and an overall interesting and very addictive game. GW is the result of gamers pooling together their ideas of improvements, likes and dislikes of other games to make something most everyone would enjoy. And I'd have to say they've greatly succeeded in that

Kudos and hope the ANet team has a great Thanksgiving!

Only real thing I'm thankful for - and it's nothing small - is giving me a game in which I met a true angel. Without GW, we'd have probably never met. She alone makes life worth living, each day a little brighter than the one before. Her kindness, her sharp wit, her incredible smile, her mesmerizing eyes, the way she laughs even when my jokes failed to be funny... The list of things I love about her goes on forever... But this isn't the time or place, this is a thanks topic. So... thanks GW.

I'd hate to try to single out a handful of things in GW that stood out among the rest, but I'll pick one:

Thank you for the ground-breaking attitude that an online game should be immediately and constantly FUN, instead of intentionally unrewarding, time-consuming, and addictive, like all those other games out there.

I adore not feeling pressured by a monthly fee to play when I don't really want to.

Woot for innovation!

... Oh, and thanks for Moa Birds. (Redfeather made me add that.)
